The initial program may be limited to 20,000 applicants. A Federal Register notice is expected in December. TechServe\u2019s Government Affairs team has followed developments for several months and will provide details when more information is available.<\/p>\n<p><em>Bloomberg Law<\/em>, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/news.bloomberglaw.com\/daily-labor-report\/domestic-visa-renewal-pilot-for-h-1b-workers-to-start-in-january\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">H-1B Worker Domestic Visa Renewal Pilot to Start in January<\/a>,\u201d November 28, 2023<\/p>\n<p><em>National Journal<\/em>, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.natlawreview.com\/article\/department-state-takes-steps-implement-stateside-visa-processing#:~:text=The%20term%20%E2%80%9Cstateside%20processing%E2%80%9D%20refers%20to%20the%20renewal,United%20States%20to%20renew%20visas%20for%20certain%20nonimmigrants.\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Department of State Takes Steps to Implement Stateside Visa Processing<\/a>,\u201d October 25, 2023<\/p>\n<p>The State Department issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.state.gov\/visa-operations-bring-record-achievements-worldwide\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">press release<\/a> today recapping the agency&#8217;s success processing visas, including a record 590,000 nonimmigrant visas to high-tech workers and executives in fields including emerging technology and health care.<\/p>\n<p>The press release also highlighted the December 2022 interview waiver expansion to certain high-security individuals for visa renewals; these visa holders are not required to appear in person at an embassy or consulate. The current waiver extends through December 31, 2023, and is expected to be extended further.
