In October, IT employment increased by 0.53% to 5,184,600 jobs, according to TechServe Alliance, the national trade association of the IT & Engineering Staffing and Solutions Industry. On a year-over-year basis, IT employment has declined by 3.20% since October 2019 shedding 171,300 IT workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Engineering employment grew by 0.19% sequentially to 2,586,200. On a year-over-year basis, engineering employment decreased by 2.66% since October 2019, a loss of 70,600 engineering workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAfter a precipitous decline in the Spring and bottoming-out in July, IT employment posted strong growth the last three months including a jump of 0.53% in October,\u201d observed Mark Roberts, CEO of TechServe Alliance. \u201cWhile the IT employment market continues to \u201cheal\u201d with talent in high demand skill sets remaining in short supply, the pace and depth of the ongoing recovery will impact future IT hiring trends. While we anticipate IT employment will continue to be more resilient than many other sectors, it will not be immune to the prevailing economic winds,\u201d added Roberts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
