In January, IT employment increased by 0.50% to 5,272,900 jobs, according to TechServe Alliance, the national trade association of the IT & Engineering Staffing and Solutions Industry. On a year-over-year basis, IT employment has declined by 1.32% since January 2020 shedding 70,300 IT workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Engineering employment grew by 0.13% sequentially to 2,583,400. On a year-over-year basis, engineering employment decreased by 2.82% since January 2020, a loss of 74,900 engineering workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFor the fifth consecutive month, IT employment posted strong growth in December. From its low ebb in July, the graph reflecting the recovery is taking on a \u2018hockey stick\u2019-like trajectory,\u201d observed Mark Roberts, CEO of TechServe Alliance. \u201cWhile not quite back to employment levels pre-pandemic, we have made extraordinary progress in recovering the jobs lost in the Spring and early Summer.
